01Recovery points instead of backups
Microsoft has eliminated this behavior with Windows 10 version 1803 to save hard disk space. As an alternative, the manufacturer recommends that all those who want to make a system with a damaged registry operational again use recovery points.
02Reactivate the backup in the registry
However, if you rely on the automatic backup, you can reactivate it. To do this, call the registry editor with the command regedit.exe on. Then open the branch HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and shimmy through SYSTEM CurrentControlSet Control Session Manager Configuration Manager.
03Activate the backup
Now right-click on an empty area in the right half of the window. Choose from the context menu New / DWORD value (32-bit) and have names EnablePeriodicBackup on. Then double-click on it and assign the value 1.
04Backup after reboot
You must restart your computer for the change to take effect. Windows backs up the registry to the RegBack folder using Task Scheduler. This can be found in the planning library Microsoft Windows Registry a task called RegIdleBackup.
If the worst comes to the worst, you can start the computer repair using the Windows 10 rescue media and save the files under C: Windows System32 config RegBack in the directory C: Windows System32 config copy back. (sb)
