After the outbreak of the corona virus in China, there were various restrictions in public life, both in the Asian country and increasingly also in the rest of the world.
In the Wuhan region concerned, this meant house arrest for residents, while factories remained closed for longer than just the Chinese New Year and are only now slowly starting up again.
Meanwhile, has been able to look at a new document by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, which does not rule out further effects of the corona virus on Apple’s business.
No significant improvements in the second quarter
According to Kuo, the virus can cause further delays, while production rates are only slowly increasing again. Apple’s largest partner Foxconn is currently luring employees back to the factories with bonuses and free food.
At the same time, however, the deliveries from the suppliers were lower, so that the stocks are slowly disappearing. For example, the supplier of lenses for the iPhone camera reportedly experienced a major slump in production.
According to Kuo, inventories should last for about a month, while the earliest mass production can continue in May at the earliest.
Future products may experience delays
The impact on new products is currently unclear. The iPhone SE successor is rumored to appear in the first half of 2020. In view of the tense situation, the date might not be long enough or Apple only released it in very limited numbers.
It is also exciting to see how the virus may affect the new iPhone generation. Among other things, it was reported that test productions cannot take place as planned.
